Pearson to replace Vadera in senior construction post Ian Pearson is expected to replace Baroness Vadera as construction minister, it has been reported.

Mr Pearson will take up the post following a recent cabinet reshuffle, which moved Baroness Vadera to the post of minister for economic competitiveness.

He is currently piloting the government's banking reform bill, which he said was the biggest issue facing the UK.

"We have got to ensure financial stability and banking support for business."

The Dudley South MP will take over the construction post at a difficult period for commercial property markets.

The department for business, enterprise and regulatory reform is expected to confirm his appointment later today, Building has reported.

If he moves to the post he will become the eighth construction minister since 2001 – Ms Vadera was only in the job since January this year.

She has now moved to be minister for economic competitiveness and small business, and is expected to work closely with Gordon Brown.
