Bank sits at the core of the Square Mile, where eight streets meet in front of the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange and Mansion House. A sustained refurbishment programme has reworked much of the older stock over the last decade, so the choice now runs from reworked period buildings to the towers going up around Bishopsgate and Leadenhall. Banking, insurance, legal and professional services dominate, though technology occupiers are increasingly present.

Bank is dense, and most of what a team needs sits within a few streets. The covered market handles lunch and a client drink, the rooftop bars on the newer towers have become a fixture for entertaining, and the older pubs down the lanes off Cornhill and Lombard Street are worth finding. St Paul's and the river are both close when the streets feel too tight. The area empties at weekends, which makes weekday lunchtimes busy and Friday evenings quieter than they used to be.
